How did I get to be here? What got me into oils? Well as I think back my mom was probably the first to introduce natural alternatives....you know, St. Johns Wort, homemade jelly and dandelion wine.

But essential oils although around for hundreds of years before weren’t introduced to me until I was in my 30’s. After being trained as a Clinical Massage Therapist I was introduced to essential oils from another company as a service to my massage practice. Everyone loves the smell of pure essential oils and that is how I used them on my clients... After several years of practice and several life changes I had retired from massage and packed away my oils as well.

At some point down the road I found myself generally unhealthy again I had lost both of my parents, and a couple relationship later and I was needing support for my stress and anxiousness. I met the wonderful man I am proud to call my husband now but I was having terrible headaches and would get nauseous at the thought of leaving the house and meeting a group of people I didn’t’ know. I was under the care of my physician and a therapist and was also enrolled in a case study for therapeutic drugs to help with my condition. Unfortunately like so many I often numbed my symptoms with adult libations and it wasn’t uncommon for me to have several martinis every night. Not a good path for self or for a new relationship. And it certainly was not making me better. At some point, I looked back and realized that I was the healthiest when I was serving others and using the essential oils I had at my disposal as a massage therapist.. …So I started looking back into essential oils.

That is when I was introduced to a new friend on FB, She was the first to reach out to me (as I am for you now) and introduced me to doTERRA. As many of you may know both of these companies market their products through representatives via a Multi-Level Marketing structure… But with a Marketing Background, I realize that has no impact at all of the quality of the products or the pricing. But I wasn’t going to go blindly into the first new company. Of course, I reconnected with the first company I used, but I found, as before there was limited support and reactivating my account would me starting over again. So, I looked at several other companies as well and ordered their oils as well as a couple bottles I found at the local health food store that were labeled pure and therapeutic Grade. I was focusing on my feelings of anxiousness at the time so I tried these brands with that in mind and found doTERRA Balance blend helped me in a matter of days! While the other oils smelled very nice, and were a little less expensive, they did not provide me with the sense of calm I was looking for.

It was then that I committed to my Self-Care and health with a doTERRA Wholesale Account. It was only 8 months from starting my doTERRA membership that I couldn’t help but share my experience and samples with others…That was over five years ago and now everyone in my household enjoys the benefits of these natural options, we have over 6 amazing friends who have joined us in sharing oils and supporting and educating others and we all look forward to waking up each day for a new opportunity to help someone new!

We have replace the use of so many of the over the counter products we were using before. Everything from anti-inflammatories to cough syrup, we have replaced toxic candles and plug-in room air fresheners with water diffusers and misting spray bottles, and have supported our gut health and nutrition with effective supplements and vitamins. All for less than we were paying before for items that didn’t work. I would absolutely love to show you how to do the same.

Just to wrap up on this introduction, I was so impressed with how these oils and products have supported our health and wellbeing I pursued additional certification in Herbal Remedies and advanced certification as an Aromatherapist to have a better clinical understanding about the oils and better serve our growing doTERRA Tribe and all of you in this Community Group.

But you don’t need all the advanced training to do what I do and make some extra money at home, or even just pay for your oils… so if after this class you believe you can do want I do for others and would like to know more about the opportunity, please message me directly and I can share more information with you.

I truly believe we are Healthier, Happier, and Stronger than we ever were before. And I would be honored if you joined us.

DIY: Mouth Rinse

September 19, 20223 min read

Mouthwash is a handy tool for disinfecting the mouth and freshening the breath, but it has some downsides as well. A DIY Mouth Rinse recipe is a perfect alternative for the many people who avoid mouthwashes due to alcohol. The majority of the commercial brands contain alcohol in it. On the other hand, some people avoid it due to artificial colors, fluoride, and other additives.

Still, there are some people who just want a more cost effective and natural way to use your oils to support your oral health in a safe and cost effective way. We enjoy this DIY Mouth Rinse Recipe so much I wanted to share this with you.

Benefits of the ingredients

Baking Soda

Many teeth-whitening products and toothpastes include baking soda because it has the ability to remove minor stains from the teeth. Baking soda is made up of a chemical compound that acts as an abrasive that can help to remove teeth stains, helping your smile look whiter. When using baking soda for teeth-whitening purposes, be aware that too much baking soda can damage tooth enamel—the coating that protects your teeth.

Salt

Oil and water don't mix well and in addition to the salt adding a little flavor the minerals in the salt water will help to evenly distributed the essential oil throughout the mouth rinse as well as extend the shelf life by minimizing bacterial growth... not that it will be sitting very long! (you may even want to make a larger batch)

Peppermint

Peppermint is commonly used in oral health products for mint flavoring, and to help freshen breath. On its own, Peppermint essential oil can be used to freshen breath, and makes the perfect addition to a homemade mouth rinse.

Patchouli

A member of the mint family, Patchouli is a fitting companion for Peppermint oil and baking soda in this DIY Mouth Rinse recipe, as it is used in many scented products for its distinct aroma. It also has freshening and deodorizing properties as well.

DIY Mouth Rinse Recipe

Ingredients
½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt (either ionized or pink Himalayan)

½ teaspoon xylitol (optional sweetener)

10 drops minerals (optional)

1/2 cup water

2 drops Peppermint oil

1 drop Patchouli oil

Instructions

  1. Combine baking soda, salt, xylitol (if used) and water in a larger 2 cup glass measuring cup.

  2. Add essential oils and mineral drops (if used) and stir with a stainless straw metal spoon to mix well.

  3. Pour mixture into a small bottle with a stopper. I like this 125ml glass topper bottle from amazon or you can clean and sterilize another small necked bottle with a cap.

  4. Swish mixture around in mouth for one minute before spitting into the sink.
